Organon, BOGA, and Primary Health Care Collaborate on Two-Day Workshop: “Guidelines on the Use of Contraceptives

In a concerted effort to enhance knowledge and practical skills in modern family planning, Organon, in collaboration with the Bahrain Obstetrics and Gynecology Association (BOGA) and Primary Health Care, successfully organized a two-day workshop titled *“Guidelineson the Use of Contracetives.”* The event was held on May 19–20, 2025, and welcomed a wide range of healthcare professionals from across the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Day One: Evidence-Based Lectures

The workshop commenced on May 19th with a series of informative lectures focusing on various contraceptive methods. Dr. Shereen Hissain and Dr. Zainab Aljufairi led the sessions, offering evidence-based insights into the effectiveness, suitability, and counseling techniques related to different contraceptive options. Their presentations highlighted both short-term and long-acting reversible contraceptives, addressing the importance of patient-centered care and informed decision-making in family planning.

Day Two: Focused Learning and Hands-On Training

The second day of the workshop, held on May 20th, featured an in-depth lecture by Dr. Amal Hassani on the *Implanon NXT*, a long-acting subdermal contraceptive implant. Dr. Hassani provided an overview of its mechanism, insertion techniques, potential side effects, and patient selection criteria.

Following the lecture, participants engaged in hands-on training sessions that allowed them to practice the insertion techniques for both the Implanon NXT and intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUCDs). Under expert supervision, attendees gained practical experience, increasing their confidence and competency in performing these essential procedures.

Empowering Providers, Enhancing Women’s Health

The workshop not only served as a platform for learning but also fostered professional collaboration and dialogue among primary care physicians, gynecologists, and reproductive health specialists. Attendees expressed great appreciation for the balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training, which they found highly beneficial to their clinical practice.

By the end of the workshop, participants walked away with updated knowledge on contraceptive guidelines and strengthened skills in delivering reproductive health services. The event reinforced the commitment of Organon, BOGA, and Primary Health Care to advancing women's health in Bahrain through continuous professional development and collaborative initiatives.
